Introducing different types of activities
To know and understand what we would be learning in this topic, let us first ask ourselves. “What comes to our mind when we say activities. Can you think of a few activities?”
You must have thought about a few activities like matching, sorting, a worksheet activity, games like carom board, hop skip and jump and so on.
When we say activity in a classroom, do we specify what is the learning through the activity? Yes, when we design an activity so as to bring about learning, we do write a learning outcome for the activity.
Further when we think about what kind of activity to choose or design, what do you keep in mind?
Is it that the concept is in the syllabus and hence design an activity or do we also have to identify the needs, levels of the students and then design the activities.
Yes, it is important to design activities depending on the learning needs and level of the students.
Remember that when we design activities, we must be aware of what is the outcome of the activity, needs and levels of students.
